Furcifer Viridis is also known as the Green Chameleon. This chameleon has a large distribution area all over the nothwest part of Madagascar. These chameleons are doing well not only in forest zone, but also in scrub and grasslands. The Green Chameleon is a middle sized chameleon. Males have the total lenght about 25-28 cm while females have 15-19 cm lenght. Most of females have pink beige tones coloration with brown stripes. Males are bright green colored with pale horizontal stripe along the middle of their body. It’s interesting to know that until 2012 Furcifer Viridis was counted among Furcifer Lateralis, but it now seen as its own species. These are arboreal reptiles and they use their tail to hang onto branches (like most other chameleons in the Furcifer genus).
Furcifer Viridis has been bred for some years but not in hight amounts. You can easyly find wild caught animals at reptiles market but of course there are also chameleon enthusiasts who started working with this species.
