Brookesia Stumpffi is also known as the leaf chameleon. This small chameleon inhabits the Western Madagascar dry forests such as Ankarana National Park and also rainforests like Amber Mountain and islands (Nosy Be, Nosy Komba, Nosy Sakatia). These chameleons live on the ground and low vegetation but sometimes they can even climb on trees. You can find more detailed information about this tiny chameleon visiting my favorite chameleon websites: Madcham.de.
Brookesia Stumpffi is a very small chameleon with the total lenght about 9 cm. They have beige and brown colors. Sitting motionless for hours they use the color and shape of their body as camouflage and resemble a leaf or branch. When they are sleeping they have a bright color and you can easily notice them among brances or plants.
It’s interesting to know that if you take in hands leaf chameleon you can feel some kind of light vibrations from them. They use such vibrations to protect themselves from predators.
The species is marked as Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Brookesia Stumpffi has been bred for some years but not in hight amounts. Mostly you can find wild caught animals at reptiles market.
